Pakistan’s military has intensified counterterrorism efforts, carrying out 4,910 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) since November 4, killing 206 terrorists, the ISPR said.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of ISPR, shared year-to-date figures in a briefing to senior journalists, highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism measures. So far this year, 67,023 IBOs were conducted nationwide, eliminating 1,873 terrorists. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa saw 12,857 operations, while Balochistan had 53,309.
The ISPR DG strongly criticized the Afghan Taliban regime for facilitating terrorist infiltration into Pakistan. He rejected claims that Pakistani terrorists in Afghanistan are “guests,” calling the assertion illogical. “We have no issue with Afghans, but with the Afghan Taliban regime,” he said, stressing the need for a verifiable monitoring mechanism under the Doha Agreement.
Lt Gen Chaudhry outlined challenges in managing the Pakistan–Afghanistan border, which runs through rugged mountainous terrain. He noted gaps in fencing, long stretches without observation posts, and divided villages complicate border control. He also cited US military equipment left in Afghanistan, worth $7.2 billion, as a regional security threat.
The ISPR DG emphasized that Pakistan’s closure of certain trade routes with Afghanistan is directly linked to protecting citizens’ lives and property. He also detailed progress in curbing smuggling, including a reduction in Iranian diesel smuggling from 20.5 million litres per day to 2.7 million litres, previously funding banned groups.
Highlighting internal security reforms, the ISPR chief said the National Action Plan (NAP) now covers 27 districts of Balochistan, strengthening governance and policing. Security forces also conduct thousands of community engagements monthly to maintain public safety.
Lt Gen Chaudhry criticized misleading statements by India’s military and warned that foreign-backed social media accounts spread anti-Pakistan narratives. Many of these accounts, he noted, are operated from overseas.
