PML-N leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif said that Imran Khan alone cannot be held responsible for the country’s situation, adding that those who supported and empowered him are equally accountable.
Speaking in Lahore to celebrate the victory of newly elected lawmakers in the by-elections, Nawaz Sharif said the nation has rejected negativity and backed PML-N for its performance and public service. He congratulated party members and said that lies, chaos, and abusive politics had been defeated.
He criticized the previous government for failing to initiate a single major development project and accused it of damaging merit, foreign relations, and economic stability. He claimed Pakistan would have been far stronger if the previous pace of development had continued.
Nawaz Sharif said PML-N governments have always launched development projects, improved institutions, reduced inflation, and prevented Pakistan from default. He also highlighted ongoing projects in Punjab, including housing for low-income families, healthcare improvements, and new transportation facilities.
He reiterated that Imran Khan’s backers must also answer for their role, and stressed that no country can move forward amid unrest and political polarization. PML-N won all six National Assembly seats and six Provincial Assembly seats in the by-elections.
