Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz congratulated all winners of the recent by-elections on Wednesday. He said the results represented a defeat for hatred, lies, misconduct, and political unrest in the country.
Nawaz highlighted Pakistan’s economic performance during his tenure, stating that the growth rate increased in 2017 while inflation was at 3 percent. He criticized subsequent governments for raising inflation to 39 percent, which later reduced to 4 percent. He said ordinary citizens suffered due to poor governance and mismanagement.
The former prime minister recalled the 1999 martial law imposed by Pervez Musharraf and described how the country faced economic and social decline in the following years. He said mismanagement, indecency, and political discord left Pakistan bankrupt and dependent on foreign assistance.
Nawaz praised Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz for their leadership, urging citizens to continue supporting them. He highlighted achievements under PML-N governance, including saving Pakistan from default, constructing 120,000 houses for the poor in Punjab, providing scholarships, opening new hospitals, and distributing free medicines.
He also criticized PTI and Imran Khan, stating that those who supported them contributed to economic and moral decline. Nawaz emphasized that merit-based governance and consistent development projects are essential for national progress.
On governance issues, Nawaz noted frequent changes in chief secretaries and police leadership under previous governments disrupted development work. He reiterated that PML-N consistently focused on public service, infrastructure, and social welfare initiatives.
