Military Stops APS-Like Terror Attack in Wana Khawaja Asif

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has praised the Pakistan Army for successfully stopping a major terrorist attack in Wana, South Waziristan. He said the timely action of the military saved the country from a tragedy similar to the 2014 Army Public School (APS) attack in Peshawar.

Speaking to the media outside Parliament House on Wednesday, Khawaja Asif confirmed that all terrorists involved in the Wana attack were killed. He added that there were no casualties among Pakistan’s security forces during the operation.

“The bravery and strategy of our army ensured the success of the Wana operation,” he said. Asif explained that the militants planned to carry out a large-scale attack similar to the APS tragedy, but their plot was foiled before they could execute it.

He further stated that Pakistan’s armed forces remain on high alert and continue to eliminate terrorist threats across the country. “The war against terrorism is ongoing. Pray for our victory and for Pakistan’s peace,” he urged citizens.

Khawaja Asif also called for unity and public support for the security forces. He said that the military is fighting to protect the country and deserves the nation’s prayers and confidence.

The statement came a day after military sources confirmed that all militants behind the Cadet College Wana attack had been killed. The operation, led by the Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa South, neutralized a suicide bomber and four attackers without any harm to students or staff.

According to security officials, Afghan militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the college’s main gate, destroying part of the building. Swift action by the Pakistan Army prevented heavy casualties, and all students were safely evacuated.
