The All Pakistan Naanbai Association announced on Monday that it has suspended its strike after reaching an agreement with the Punjab government to sell roti at the officially fixed price.
Association President Shafiq Qureshi said the decision followed successful negotiations with provincial authorities. Naanbais will now sell roti at the government-approved rate of Rs. 14, while the price of naan is yet to be finalized.
The issue of wheat flour supply at official rates remains unresolved. Qureshi noted that association representatives and traders will meet Punjab government officials on Tuesday to discuss flour availability, after which any decision on future strikes will be made.
Despite the announcement, many residents continued facing shortages as several tandoors remained closed, while some hotels and restaurants sold naan at higher rates.
The provincial government had previously warned of strict action against vendors violating official price controls, aiming to stabilize supply and ensure compliance across the province.
