Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has departed for a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new avenues of cooperation. The visit is expected to focus on enhancing trade, energy collaboration, and regional connectivity between the two friendly nations.
According to government officials, the Prime Minister will hold high-level meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and other senior leaders. Discussions will include investment opportunities, defense cooperation, and joint ventures in the energy and transport sectors.
PM Shehbaz is also expected to attend a Pakistan-Azerbaijan business forum, where both countries will sign several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to promote trade and investment. Efforts to boost cooperation in renewable energy and agriculture will also be highlighted.
The visit comes at a time when Pakistan is seeking to expand its diplomatic and economic relations across Central Asia. Observers believe the trip could open new economic corridors and strengthen Pakistan’s presence in the region.
Officials accompanying the Prime Minister include key ministers and business delegates, reflecting Islamabad’s strong commitment to deepening ties with Baku. Both sides are expected to reaffirm their support on global and regional issues of mutual interest.
Before departure, PM Shehbaz said Pakistan and Azerbaijan share a “brotherly bond,” and this visit aims to “turn friendship into lasting economic partnership.”
