Police teams in Islamabad faced resistance during an operation to arrest several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders reportedly staying at the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa House. The action, launched late last night, aimed to detain PTI members wanted in various ongoing cases.
According to sources, the police surrounded KP House and attempted to enter the premises, but the staff and security personnel denied them access, citing legal restrictions on entering provincial property. The standoff created tension in the area, drawing attention from nearby residents and media crews.
Officials claimed that the police acted on credible information about the presence of senior PTI figures. However, no arrests were made, and the teams had to leave after several hours of negotiations.
PTI representatives condemned the operation, calling it a politically motivated move to target opposition voices. They said KP House is protected under inter-provincial protocol and cannot be raided without proper warrants.
Meanwhile, Islamabad police maintained that they operated within the law and will continue efforts to apprehend suspects through legal means. The incident has further strained relations between federal authorities and the KP government.
Analysts say the event reflects growing political tensions as both sides harden their positions ahead of upcoming elections, leaving the political atmosphere even more charged.
