Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has invited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to invest in Pakistan’s major road infrastructure projects, highlighting vast opportunities in the transport and logistics sectors.
The invitation was extended during a meeting with Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser. The discussion took place on the sidelines of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi.
Aleem Khan emphasized that Pakistan is committed to expanding cooperation with Saudi Arabia, especially in transport, logistics, and infrastructure development. He said that the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between the two countries has further strengthened bilateral relations and opened new areas for collaboration.
The minister noted that Pakistan’s road network is self-sustaining and supported by an efficient toll collection system, which helps fund maintenance and new projects. He explained that the Ministry of Communications and the National Highway Authority (NHA) are developing new road infrastructure projects to connect northern regions with key economic and urban centers. These projects aim to boost trade and regional connectivity.
Among the projects presented to Saudi officials were the M-6 Motorway (Sukkur–Hyderabad), M-10 Motorway (Hyderabad–Karachi Port), M-13 Motorway (Kharian–Rawalpindi), and the Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad–Chilas (MNJC) Road. Aleem Khan highlighted that the MNJC route holds strong tourism potential, making it an attractive investment opportunity for foreign investors.
He reaffirmed that there is significant potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the road infrastructure projects sector. The minister said such collaboration would help modernize Pakistan’s transport system and create long-term economic growth opportunities.
