Pakistani actress Saba Qamar has announced legal proceedings against journalist Naeem Hanif following allegations he made about her personal life. The actress described the claims as “false” and stated that she has never lived in Walton, Lahore, nor experienced the incidents he mentioned.
The controversy began after Saba Qamar appeared on The Green Room podcast. During the interview, she was asked if she would ever move permanently to Karachi. She responded firmly, “Astaghfirullah, never!” and joked that she would only consider moving if someone bought her a house there. She also mentioned owning a home in Lahore’s DHA area.
Qamar’s remarks triggered criticism on social media, with many users taking offense at her comments about Karachi. Amid the backlash, journalist Naeem Hanif uploaded a video on his YouTube channel claiming that Qamar had lived in Walton, Lahore, around 2003–2004. He further alleged that the man providing her residence later harassed her, and that she had approached a news office to file a complaint.
Responding swiftly, Saba Qamar took to Instagram to refute the allegations. She emphasized that spreading false claims is a serious offense and reiterated that she had never lived in Walton or experienced the events described by Hanif. She also confirmed that she is pursuing legal action against the journalist, stating, “I’m taking legal action against you. See you in court.”
The incident highlights the challenges public figures face in managing misinformation and unverified claims circulating online. By taking legal action, Saba Qamar aims to protect her reputation and send a strong message against spreading false information.
