Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has spoken out against recent allegations questioning the legitimacy of his Filmfare Award for Best Actor. The actor called the claims “deeply personal and unfair,” stressing that his recognition is based solely on hard work and dedication.
Abhishek Bachchan won the award for his role in the 2024 drama I Want to Talk. The film earned praise for its emotional storytelling and his powerful performance. The controversy began when journalist Navneet Mundhra accused the actor of “buying awards” and using “aggressive PR” to secure the win. Mundhra claimed that the film had limited viewership and that other actors were more deserving of recognition. His post quickly sparked debate on social media, drawing mixed reactions from audiences.
In a firm response, Abhishek Bachchan denied the accusations, stating that his success comes from years of effort and persistence. “I have never bought an award or relied on PR tactics,” he wrote. He added that such claims undermine the hard work he has put into his 25-year-long career.
Mundhra later clarified that his comments were only a “subjective opinion.” However, Abhishek countered, saying that accusing someone of manipulating awards “feels personal” and that journalists should be more responsible when making such claims.
