Religious speaker and YouTuber Allama Nasir Madani has issued a public apology to Momina Iqbal after remarks attributed to him sparked controversy and prompted legal action by the actress.
Speaking at a public gathering, Allama Nasir Madani said that if any of his statements had caused hurt or discomfort to Momina Iqbal or her family, he sincerely apologized. He added that he had no intention of causing personal offence and expressed hope that the matter could be resolved amicably. He also requested Momina Iqbal’s sister, who practices law, to help facilitate a peaceful settlement.
The development follows a legal notice served by Momina Iqbal on June 17 through her counsel, Advocate Adnan Ehsan Khan. The notice was issued under Section 8 of the Defamation Ordinance, 2002, alleging that certain remarks made about the actress were false, defamatory, and damaging to her reputation.
According to the legal notice, the statements had negatively affected Momina Iqbal’s public image and professional standing in the entertainment industry. Her legal team argued that the comments were baseless and had caused unnecessary harm to her personal and professional reputation.
Through the notice, Momina Iqbal demanded a public clarification, an unconditional apology, and the removal of the allegedly objectionable content from social media platforms and other digital channels where it had been shared.
The notice further warned that if these demands were not met within the specified period, Momina Iqbal would pursue legal remedies available under the Defamation Ordinance, 2002, as well as the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).
The public apology by Allama Nasir Madani marks a significant development in the matter. It remains to be seen whether the apology will resolve the dispute or whether any further legal proceedings will follow.
