Pakistan’s technology sector achieved a major breakthrough in 2024 as local developers launched over 1,000 new mobile applications. According to official data, Pakistan introduced 1,053 mobile apps last year, surpassing regional competitors such as the Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, and Egypt in app development and global market reach.
Government officials credited the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) for playing a vital role in supporting this achievement. The council has worked to create a friendly investment climate that promotes innovation, attracts foreign investors, and boosts confidence in Pakistan’s IT industry. These efforts have helped strengthen the country’s digital economy and expand its global presence in technology markets.
Out of the total applications launched, 764 were Android apps and 289 were for iOS devices, reflecting a rising demand for locally developed mobile solutions. The apps covered a variety of fields, including education, fintech, health, and gaming, showing Pakistan’s growing ability to produce diverse and competitive digital products.
Experts believe that this progress demonstrates Pakistan’s increasing technological potential and strong human capital in software development. The continued growth of the local app ecosystem could help increase IT exports, create job opportunities, and enhance the country’s reputation in the global digital economy.
Industry analysts also noted that the government’s digitalization initiatives and supportive policies have been essential in driving innovation. With more skilled developers and expanding infrastructure, Pakistan is becoming an emerging hub for mobile app development in South Asia.
