Pakistan has been re-elected to the UN Human Rights Council for the 2026–2028 term with an overwhelming majority.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar thanked UN member states for their support in a post on X, calling the victory a testament to Pakistan’s strong record and contributions toward advancing global human rights. He reaffirmed the country’s commitment to working with the international community through tolerance, respect, dialogue, and consensus-building.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also welcomed the election, saying it highlights Pakistan’s effective and constructive role within the United Nations. He assured that Pakistan will continue to play an active role in promoting and protecting human rights globally during its new term on the Council.
