Iran has officially announced the resumption of direct flights to Pakistan after nearly sixty years, marking a major step forward in regional connectivity and cooperation. The new route will directly link Tehran and Islamabad, operated by Iran Air Tour every Tuesday.

This move follows a recent aviation agreement signed between the two neighboring countries aimed at boosting trade, tourism, and people-to-people contact. The agreement allows both sides to expand air connectivity and increase the number of weekly flights between Iran and Pakistan.

According to officials, the total number of flights will now rise to 24 per week, covering additional routes such as Mashhad–Karachi and Zahedan–Quetta. These routes are expected to make travel easier for businesspersons, pilgrims, and tourists from both countries.

The first flight from Tehran landed in Islamabad this week and received a warm welcome by Pakistani authorities. The launch symbolizes renewed diplomatic and economic engagement between Tehran and Islamabad after a long break of six decades.

Both nations are focusing on closer regional ties through better transport and trade routes. Experts believe the resumption of direct flights will also strengthen border province relations, particularly benefiting Balochistan and Sistan-Baluchestan regions.

Officials from both sides have expressed hope that the new air link will create economic opportunities, attract more visitors, and enhance bilateral trust. They also plan to introduce more routes in the future, including possible flights between Lahore and Shiraz.

For now, the restored air service represents a symbolic and practical step toward a stronger partnership between Iran and Pakistan — one based on mutual cooperation, connectivity, and shared regional goals.
