PM Shehbaz Sharif to meet U.S. Presie Donald Trump Today

NEW YORK: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to meet US President Donald Trump today (Tuesday) on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session. The meeting will also involve leaders from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, Indonesia, and Egypt.

The discussions, part of the 80th UNGA session, will focus on regional stability, global security, and international cooperation, highlighting Pakistan’s active diplomatic role. Their joint participation reflects the Islamic world’s commitment to addressing challenges such as regional conflicts, terrorism, and humanitarian crises.

US media reports suggest Washington seeks Arab and Muslim nations’ involvement in Gaza, both in troop deployment to facilitate Israel’s withdrawal and in funding reconstruction and political transition efforts, excluding Hamas from governance arrangements.

Earlier, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt confirmed that President Trump would meet UN Secretary-General António Guterres before holding separate meetings with the heads of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Türkiye, Egypt, Jordan, and Indonesia.

PM Shehbaz Sharif will address the UNGA on September 26, focusing on regional peace, economic cooperation, and sustainable development. He is expected to conclude his US visit on September 27 after multiple high-level engagements.
