The government of KP has imposed a complete ban on hunting at 57 water bodies, including dams, lakes, rivers, ponds, and barrages. The ban will remain in effect until December 2025 to protect wildlife and biodiversity.
According to the announcement, hunting in these locations is strictly prohibited. Authorities have warned that violators will face strict legal action. Hunting will only be allowed in designated areas under specific conditions.
The KP Wildlife Department has also set new rules to regulate hunting practices. Hunting before sunrise or after sunset has been declared illegal. In addition, the use of electronic devices and call birds to attract prey is now banned.
Each licensed hunter will be allowed to hunt a maximum of five waterfowl per day. Special licensing fees have also been introduced for duck hunting. The annual license fee for a duck hunting dog is set at Rs1,500, while hunters will need to pay Rs500 per day for using a special duck hunting gun.
Officials said these new measures are designed to preserve the province’s wildlife and protect waterfowl species from overhunting. The ban is also expected to promote sustainable hunting practices that align with international conservation standards.
The KP Wildlife Department emphasized that these regulations are essential to safeguard biodiversity and maintain ecological balance. Citizens and hunters have been urged to cooperate with the authorities and follow the rules strictly.
With the hunting ban in place, the government hopes to strengthen conservation efforts and ensure that natural resources in KP remain protected for future generations.
