Billions Withdrawn Illegally From Pakistan’s Consolidated Fund Without Approval

In a shocking development, billions of rupees have reportedly been withdrawn illegally from Pakistan’s Federal Consolidated Fund without the approval of the federal government. The matter came to light after the Peshawar High Court suspended a lower court order in Nowshera.

The original order had directed the attachment of the Federal Consolidated Fund for payments. Sources told ProPakistani that certain groups allegedly exploited natural disasters and traffic accidents to secure multi-million-rupee compensations. These operators reportedly filed court cases on behalf of grieving families without informing the federal government.

Courts then issued direct instructions for payments, which were forwarded to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). According to sources, the SBP allegedly executed these orders without verifying their legality or seeking federal approval. This action has raised concerns about the central bank acting as a silent participant in the unauthorized withdrawal of billions from public funds.

Sindh has reportedly become a hub for such cases, with dozens of questionable claims leading to unauthorized withdrawals from the national treasury. Experts say these activities violate Article 78 of the Constitution, which mandates that no funds can be released from the national treasury without the National Assembly’s approval.

Financial watchdogs and governance experts have warned that the misuse of billions in this manner undermines public trust and poses serious risks to the country’s financial accountability. ProPakistani sought a comment from the State Bank of Pakistan but had not received any response at the time of publication.

The revelation has sparked calls for an urgent investigation to determine the full extent of the illegal withdrawals and to ensure that proper legal procedures are followed. Authorities are expected to review the mechanisms for releasing funds and strengthen oversight to prevent misuse of public resources in the future.
