Actor Fawad Khan and Bollywood actress Vaani Kapoor’s film Aabeer Gulaal has released worldwide on September 12, 2025, but not in India. Reports now suggest it will hit Indian theatres on September 26.
The romantic drama marks Fawad Khan’s return to Indian cinema after nearly eight years. Earlier spelled Abir Gulaal, the film tells a simple love story. Producers are confident it will attract audiences across India. Bollywood Hungama reports that Indian Stories Limited (UK) finalized the September 26 release, taking advantage of a date without competing films.
Neither the filmmakers nor the lead actors have officially confirmed the Indian release date, leaving fans eager for an announcement.
Aabeer Gulaal faced delays in India due to political tensions. It was initially scheduled for May 9, 2025, but the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and India’s Operation Sindoor caused indefinite postponement. Fawad Khan condemned the Pahalgam attack and criticized Operation Sindoor, triggering backlash on social media and restrictions on Pakistani artists in India.
Despite the delays, the film premiered internationally on September 12, 2025. The makers gained renewed confidence after the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup cricket clash on September 14, believing audiences might embrace the film despite earlier controversies.
The film is produced by Vivek B Agrawal, Raza Namazi, and Firuzi Khan, directed by Aarti S Bagdi. Music is composed by Amit Trivedi, with lyrics by Kumaar.
