In Gujranwala, known as the “City of Wrestlers,” the administration of Kings Mall reportedly denied entry to an elderly man for wearing the traditional dress dhoti.
According to a social media post, the man’s son stated that his father, dressed in a dhoti, went shopping at the mall with his younger brother but was stopped at the entrance by security officials. They were told entry was not permitted due to dress code restrictions.
When questioned, the security staff allegedly said that people wearing dhoti were not allowed inside. The user also shared a photo of the mall’s courtesy policy, which read: “Shorts & Dhoti’s are not allowed.”
The incident sparked criticism online, with many users calling it disrespectful to traditional attire. However, the claims have not yet been independently verified.
A similar controversy surfaced earlier in July in Karachi, when lawyer Abdul Latif claimed he was denied service at a restaurant for wearing shalwar kameez in a posh area of the city.
