Pakistan And Bangladesh Sign Visa-Free Travel Deal For Diplomats, Officials

Pakistan and Bangladesh have signed new agreements to enhance cooperation, including a visa waiver for diplomats and officials. The visa exemption allows holders of diplomatic and official passports to travel between the two countries without obtaining a visa. This move aims to strengthen bilateral ties and facilitate smoother diplomatic exchanges.

The agreements were finalized during the visit of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to Bangladesh. Besides the visa waiver, the accords cover various sectors such as trade, culture, education, diplomatic training, media, and academic exchanges. The Foreign Office of Pakistan stated that these agreements will institutionalize and deepen collaboration between both nations.

This visa exemption follows a similar arrangement Pakistan recently signed with the UAE, which came into effect in July 2025. During his visit, Ishaq Dar met with several Bangladeshi officials, including government advisers, political leaders, academics, journalists, and cultural figures. He emphasized the long-standing cultural and historical ties that connect Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Ishaq Dar highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to building a strong and cooperative relationship with Bangladesh. The visa waiver is expected to make diplomatic and official travel easier, supporting the growing partnership between the two countries. Officials believe that this step will encourage more frequent and efficient diplomatic interactions.

In addition to easing travel, the new agreements promote mutual cooperation in trade and education, fostering greater people-to-people contact and cultural exchange. Both countries hope that these steps will lead to more extensive collaboration and shared growth.

The visa waiver agreement marks a significant development in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, aiming to simplify official travel and enhance bilateral cooperation across multiple areas. This move reflects a positive trend toward stronger ties and deeper diplomatic engagement.
