KP Bans Illegal Mining Throughout Province

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has enforced a province-wide ban on illegal mining, including a 60-day halt on gold exploration along the Indus and Kabul rivers.

According to the Home Department’s notification, the ban specifically targets “gold spacer” practices, citing severe environmental damage and law-and-order issues in multiple districts.

Implemented under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the restriction covers Swat, Nowshera, Kohat, and nearby areas.

Officials warned that violators will face strict legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code. Local administrations and law enforcement have been tasked with ensuring compliance.
