Ishaq Dar Makes First Pakistani FM Visit to Dhaka in 10 Years

In a landmark diplomatic move, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in Dhaka, becoming the first Pakistani FM to visit Bangladesh in 13 years.

Invited by Dhaka, Dar’s visit signals a reset in bilateral ties. He will meet Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus and Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain to discuss trade, security, and regional cooperation.

Officials expect multiple agreements, including key trade pacts, to be signed, marking Pakistan’s highest-level engagement with Bangladesh since 2012.

The visit comes after Sheikh Hasina’s ouster and exile to New Delhi, which has paved the way for renewed Pakistan-Bangladesh relations. Recent developments include direct shipping between Karachi and Chittagong, visa-free entry for diplomats, and revived high-level consultations.

Military cooperation is also expanding, with recent meetings between senior army officials from both countries reaffirming commitments to security and defence collaboration.

In another big development Pakistan and Bangladesh agree on visa-free entry
