During Independence Day celebrations in Karachi, aerial firing caused tragic consequences. Three people died, including an 8-year-old girl. Additionally, 84 people were injured, many of them women and children.
According to rescue officials, the young girl named Marha was standing near a window when a stray bullet struck her in the head. She was a first-grade student. Two other victims lost their lives in separate incidents of aerial firing in Korangi and Lyari’s Agra Taj area.
The injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed, Civil, and Jinnah hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, police began operations across Karachi to catch those responsible for the dangerous aerial firing.
Authorities arrested 20 suspects in the initial crackdown. Several weapons were also seized from the accused. Police confirmed that they have arrested 57 people in total and recovered an equal number of firearms linked to aerial firing incidents in the city.
Sindh Inspector General of Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon, expressed deep concern over the aerial firing incidents in Karachi. He reminded the public that such actions are not part of Independence Day celebrations and should be strictly avoided.
The police have registered cases against the suspects on charges of attempted murder. Legal proceedings will soon take place to hold the offenders accountable.
The Sindh police emphasized their commitment to maintaining peace in Karachi during national celebrations. They assured citizens that they will continue taking strong measures to prevent aerial firing and protect public safety.
