The government has reduced petrol prices by Rs7.54 per litre, setting the new rate at Rs264.61 for the upcoming two weeks.

Conversely, the price of high-speed diesel has been raised by Rs1.48, bringing it to Rs285.83 per litre. The Ministry of Finance has officially notified the updated fuel prices.

In the previous fortnight, petrol saw a Rs5.36 hike, while diesel surged by Rs11.37 per litre.

Petrol is mainly used by motorcycles, rickshaws, and small vehicles, making the change significant for low- and middle-income commuters.

High-speed diesel, essential for transportation and agriculture, powers trucks, buses, trains, and farming equipment. An increase in its price contributes to rising transportation costs, which in turn drives up the prices of essential goods like vegetables.
