Five Independent KP Senators Formally Join Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf

Five Senators elected as independents from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have formally joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). This move comes shortly after the Senate elections where PTI performed strongly in the province.

According to sources, all five Senators submitted written declarations to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan. The lawmakers include Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Azam Swati, Faisal Javed, Noorul Haq Qadri, and Rubina Naz.

Barrister Gohar has handed over the declarations to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The commission is expected to issue an official notification after verifying the documents.

These Senators had contested and won seats as independents in the recent Senate elections. Their decision to join PTI further boosts the party’s presence in the upper house of Parliament.

In total, PTI secured six Senate seats from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The winners on general seats include Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Muhammad Afridi, and Noorul Haq Qadri. Azam Khan Swati won on a technocrat seat, while Rubina Naz was elected on a women’s reserved seat.

The addition of these Senators is likely to strengthen PTI’s influence in the Senate. Their alignment with the party may support PTI’s legislative agenda moving forward.

Other major parties also gained ground in KP. Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) won two seats. Talha Mehmood was elected on a general seat, and Rubina Khalid won a seat reserved for women.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidate Niaz Ahmad won a general seat. JUI-F’s Dilawar Khan and Atta ul Haq secured technocrat and general seats, respectively.

The shifting political alliances in the Senate highlight an evolving landscape. The decision by the independent Senators to join PTI may impact future parliamentary dynamics.
