In light of the ongoing surge in sugar prices, the Punjab government has acted by setting fixed ex-mill and retail sugar rates for the next four months.
As per a notification from the Punjab DG Food and Cane Commissioner:
- July 15 – August 14: Sugar to be sold at Rs. 165 per kg ex-mill and Rs. 173 per kg retail.
- August 15 – September 14: Ex-mill price set at Rs. 167 and retail at Rs. 175 per kg.
- September 15 – October 14: Sugar to be priced at Rs. 169 ex-mill and Rs. 177 retail.
- October 15 onwards: Ex-mill rate fixed at Rs. 171 and retail at Rs. 179 per kg.
To ensure compliance, Secretary for Price Control Dr. Ehsan Bhutta has instructed the DG Food to strictly enforce the notified prices across the province.
