UBTech Launches Lifelike Humanoid Robots for Home Companionship

Chinese robotics company UBTech has introduced a new lineup of lifelike humanoid robots designed for personal companionship and everyday use inside homes. The new U1 series was unveiled during a launch event in Shenzhen, showcasing advanced artificial intelligence, realistic facial expressions, and human-like interactions. The company aims to bring humanoid robots beyond factories and into domestic environments where they can assist and engage with users.

The U1 series is available in three variants—Lite, Pro, and Ultra—to suit different customer needs and budgets. Prices begin at approximately $17,650 for the entry-level model and reach around $145,820 for the premium Ultra version. UBTech is offering both male and female models, with the male robot standing 183 centimeters tall and the female version measuring 168 centimeters.

Designed to closely resemble humans, the U1 features a silicone skin exterior and 88 servo joints that enable smooth, natural movements. The robot can display realistic facial expressions, maintain eye contact, and engage in conversations with users. According to company representatives, the U1 has been specifically developed for interaction in home environments rather than industrial or manufacturing settings.

One of the robot’s standout features is its emotional artificial intelligence system, which allows it to recognize and respond more naturally during conversations. Instead of relying heavily on cloud computing, the emotional AI runs locally using a Rockchip RK3588 processor. This approach enables faster responses while reducing dependence on external servers for processing.

UBTech has also emphasized privacy as a key feature of the U1 series. User information and personal interactions are stored directly on the robot rather than being uploaded to cloud servers. The company says this design helps address privacy concerns by keeping sensitive household data and conversations within the device itself. The robots are currently available only to adult users.

The launch highlights China’s growing investment in humanoid robotics as companies seek to expand artificial intelligence into everyday life. While industrial robots continue to dominate manufacturing, firms like UBTech are increasingly focusing on personal companion robots capable of assisting, communicating, and interacting naturally with people. The U1 series represents another significant step toward bringing advanced humanoid technology into homes around the world.
