Justice Sarfraz Dogar Takes Oath as Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court

ustice Sarfraz Dogar was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday. The oath-taking ceremony took place at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath. The event was attended by senior government officials, judges, and members of the legal community.

Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani were present. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and several senior lawyers also attended the ceremony.

President Zardari congratulated the new Chief Justice and wished him success. He expressed hope that Justice Dogar would ensure transparency and impartiality in judicial matters.

Justice Dogar replaces Justice Aamer Farooq, who retired earlier this year. His appointment comes at a time when Pakistan’s judiciary faces major legal and constitutional challenges.

Calls for judicial reforms and accountability have grown in recent months. Many expect the new Chief Justice to play an active role in improving the system.

Earlier, similar ceremonies were held in Karachi and Peshawar. Justice Muhammad Junaid Ghaffar took oath as Chief Justice of the Sindh High Court. Justice SM Atiq Shah was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court.

Leaders and officials across the country have expressed hope that the new appointments will strengthen the rule of law.
