At least six people, including five women, lost their lives after a tourist vehicle plunged into the Neelum River in the Chilhana area of Neelum Valley. According to Deputy Commissioner Nadeem Janjua, a child remains missing following the incident, prompting an ongoing search and rescue operation.
The rescue teams are facing significant challenges due to the rugged terrain and the depth of the ravine where the vehicle crashed. Authorities are working relentlessly to recover the bodies and locate the missing child, though accessibility issues are slowing down progress.

In a separate tragedy, a jeep skidded off the Neelum Valley–Babon road and fell into a ravine, killing three people and injuring four others. The deceased and injured were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
These incidents follow another recent disaster in Rawalakot, where a coaster carrying passengers from Rawalpindi plunged into a gorge near the Azad Pattan Pana Bridge, leaving 23 people dead and one injured. Commissioner Rawalakot confirmed the coaster was en route to Rawalakot at the time of the accident.
The repeated occurrences of fatal road mishaps in mountainous regions highlight the urgent need for improved road safety measures and strict regulation of passenger transport in vulnerable areas.
