The West Indies Cricket Board (CWI) is likely to reject a proposal from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding changes to their upcoming series. Pakistan had requested that the scheduled One Day Internationals (ODIs) be replaced with additional T20 Internationals (T20Is). The request was made to give Pakistan more preparation in the shorter format ahead of the 2025 ACC Men’s Asia Cup and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Despite ongoing discussions, the West Indies board appears set to follow the original plan. According to reports, CWI has decided to keep the full schedule as it is, including three T20Is and three ODIs. This decision aligns with the ICC Future Tours Programme (FTP), which outlines agreed fixtures between member nations.

The T20 series is scheduled to start on July 31, with matches in the United States. The ODIs will be played in Trinidad on August 8, 10, and 12. If the proposal had been accepted, the number of T20Is could have increased to five or even six, removing the ODIs entirely.

Pakistan’s squad for the Caribbean tour is expected to be announced alongside the team for the Bangladesh series. This will help streamline selection and planning across both series.

For both Pakistan and West Indies, this series holds strategic value. Both teams are in a rebuilding phase and looking to test new players in white-ball formats. The matches will provide an important opportunity to evaluate team combinations and build momentum ahead of future tournaments.

While Pakistan was eager to focus on T20s, West Indies seem committed to maintaining a balance between formats. The series is set to go ahead as originally scheduled.

West Indies have recently displayed strong form in red-ball cricket as well. They triumphed over Pakistan with a 120-run victory in the second Test, showcasing their growing dominance across formats.
