West Indies pacer Alzari Joseph delivered a crucial performance on the opening day of the second Test against Australia in Grenada. His four-wicket haul helped West Indies stay competitive after Australia posted 286 runs in their first innings.

Australia won the toss and opted to bat first on a pitch that initially offered some help to the bowlers. Despite early trouble, they managed a total that keeps the game finely balanced. The innings saw momentum shift several times before ending in a tense state.

Australia’s innings was built around two key half-centuries. Beau Webster scored 60, while Alex Carey added 63. The pair shared a vital 112-run stand for the sixth wicket, helping their side recover after early losses.

Alzari Joseph was the standout bowler for the West Indies, finishing with figures of 4 for 61. He dismissed key Australian batters, including Usman Khawaja and Pat Cummins, with sharp pace and movement. Jayden Seales also supported well with 2 for 45.

Earlier, Sam Konstas made a promising 25 before falling to Anderson Phillip. Steven Smith and Usman Khawaja both departed cheaply, undone by the speed and accuracy of Alzari Joseph.

Cameron Green and Travis Head offered some resistance, but neither could convert their starts into big scores. After Carey and Webster’s strong partnership, West Indies clawed their way back. Carey was caught by Kraigg Brathwaite off Justin Greaves, and Webster was run out soon after.

Australia were all out in 66.5 overs, falling just short of the 300 mark. Josh Hazlewood remained unbeaten on 10.

West Indies openers Kraigg Brathwaite, playing his 100th Test, and John Campbell walked out to bat but bad light stopped play before they could face a ball. On day two, the hosts will aim to build a strong reply—especially with Alzari Joseph expected to play a key role again with the ball later in the match. From Australian side, also read that key player like Steve Smith to Play in Second Test Match vs West Indies
