A group of 46 Pakistani nationals, including 35 members of the Hindu community, returned to Pakistan through the Wagah border as part of ongoing repatriation efforts between the two countries. The return highlights continued humanitarian coordination despite recent tensions.
The repatriation follows India’s decision in April to close the Wagah border and expel Pakistani citizens after a deadly attack at the Pahalgam tourist resort in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which left 26 people dead. In May, the two nations were also involved in a brief four-day military confrontation.

Despite these developments and strained diplomatic ties, both countries have quietly maintained cross-border humanitarian cooperation to facilitate the return of stranded nationals.
Officials say such efforts are essential in preserving a minimum level of civil coordination, even when formal diplomatic engagement remains limited.
