Karachi Sets Deadline for Rs. 1 Billion Road Project

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has set September 30, 2026 as the deadline for completing development work on Tori Bangash Road, a major road project aimed at improving connectivity across several parts of the city.

The mayor inspected the ongoing construction work on Tuesday, where officials from the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation’s (KMC) Engineering Department briefed him on the progress of the project.

Tori Bangash Road project costs Rs. 1 billion

The development project has an estimated cost of around Rs. 1 billion.

According to officials, Tori Bangash Road will provide an important alternative route connecting District West, Orangi, Keamari and Hub River Road.

Wahab said completion of the road would make daily commuting easier for thousands of residents living in surrounding areas.

He directed the relevant departments to ensure that construction work is completed within the announced deadline so citizens can benefit from the improved route without further delays.

Stormwater drain also under construction

A new stormwater drainage system is also being constructed alongside the road.

During the inspection, the mayor was informed about the progress of the drainage work.

Wahab said the stormwater drain is expected to be completed within the next few days, after which the remaining road development work will continue.

The drainage system is expected to help improve the area’s ability to manage rainwater and reduce drainage-related problems during periods of rainfall.

Mayor directs departments to meet deadline

The Karachi mayor instructed the concerned departments and contractors to accelerate work and ensure that both the road and drainage components are completed according to schedule.

He stressed the importance of completing development projects on time so residents can begin benefiting from improved infrastructure.

Wahab said the KMC is currently undertaking several development schemes across Karachi as part of efforts to improve municipal infrastructure and basic facilities.

He added that the authority aims to complete ongoing development projects during the current year.

The Tori Bangash Road project is expected to provide an additional transportation link for residents of western Karachi while improving access between important residential and commercial areas.
