PDMA Issues High Alert for Heavy Monsoon Rains in Punjab Starting July 5

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a high alert as Punjab braces for a powerful monsoon spell beginning July 5. This second intense phase of the season is expected to bring heavy rainfall, with forecasts indicating downpours particularly on Youm-e-Ashura.

To manage potential rain-related disruptions during Ashura processions, the PDMA has implemented a province-wide strategy. Drainage and water disposal systems along procession routes have been activated to ensure smooth movement and prevent waterlogging.

The authority has also set up special monitoring desks in control rooms to oversee the situation and ensure rapid coordination between departments in case of emergencies.

Officials are urging citizens to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as the province prepares for the upcoming weather system.
