The reports come amid indirect U.S.-Iran talks seeking a diplomatic path forward on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions. While Iran insists its program is for peaceful purposes, the U.S. maintains it aims to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
Earlier this week, Trump also announced a ceasefire between Israel and Iran, following a series of attacks between the two nations. The conflict raised regional tensions, especially in the context of Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza. Israel, believed to possess nuclear arms, has said its strikes aim to stop Iran from developing such capabilities.
