The deceased, 30-year-old Yasir Kharl, had purchased the phone on an installment plan from a Karachi-based seller who allegedly harassed him over missed payments, even involving the police to pressure him. Struggling with financial distress and unable to meet the payment demands, Yasir, a married father of two, ended his life.
According to Dr. Barkat Laghari, Medical Superintendent of District Headquarters Hospital, Yasir had ingested poison and was initially treated by doctors.

Although his condition appeared to stabilize, those accompanying him were advised to shift him to Civil Hospital Hyderabad for further care. Instead, they took him home. He was later brought back to the hospital with complaints of stomach pain, but by then, he had passed away.
