Istanbul, [Date] – Pakistan and Turkiye have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation and strategic relations, while jointly condemning Israel’s ongoing military aggression in Gaza and voicing support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The reaffirmation came during a high-level meeting between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Istanbul. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers. Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Syed Asim Munir, also attended, highlighting the strategic depth of the bilateral partnership.
Both sides strongly denounced Israel’s military actions in Gaza, calling them a grave violation of international law and humanitarian principles. They stressed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian aid to Palestinians facing severe shortages.
The leaders also expressed solidarity with Iran, supporting its sovereignty and right to self-defence under the UN Charter. They emphasized diplomatic solutions to ease regional tensions and urged the international community to work toward peace and stability.
Dar conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s greetings to President Erdogan and reiterated Pakistan’s strong appreciation for its historic ties with Turkiye, rooted in shared values and mutual trust.
Additionally, Dar congratulated Erdogan on Turkiye’s successful hosting of the OIC summit and praised his leadership in advancing the Muslim world’s interests, following his recent recognition by the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum.
The meeting underscored both nations’ alignment on key regional and global issues, reinforcing their commitment to collaborative efforts for peace and justice.
