IPP President Abdul Aleem Khan Announces Major Development Projects for South Punjab
LAYYAH – President of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Abdul Aleem Khan, on Friday unveiled a series of developmental initiatives aimed at uplifting South Punjab, promising infrastructure improvements and long-overdue investment in the region.
Addressing the Marka-e-Haq Convention in Layyah, Khan announced that construction on the Layyah-Taunsa Bridge would begin in the coming days. He stated that the project would be inaugurated by Rafiqat Gilani, and also confirmed that work on the Multan-Mianwali road is expected to commence soon.
“South Punjab has faced years of neglect and injustice,” Khan said, stressing the need for targeted development to address regional disparities.

He emphasized that while there is no need to change Punjab’s name, the unique needs of North and South Punjab must be recognized. Khan also proposed similar regional distinctions in other provinces:
“There should be a North and South in Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan as well.”
Abdul Aleem Khan reaffirmed that regional empowerment is a core part of the IPP’s manifesto. He strongly advocated for the creation of a separate province for South Punjab, arguing that it would lead to increased employment and better governance.
“If I am given a ministerial post, I will establish a medical college in Layyah. And if someone else holds that office, I will make sure they deliver it,” he pledged.
Khan also committed to building modern, high-quality roads in the region and expressed his vision for a prosperous and well-developed Layyah, stating that a separate province would eliminate the need for current administrative divisions.
“Layyah will become a model of beauty and development,” he concluded.
