Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir Promoted to Field Marshal
Islamabad – The Ministry of Defense has officially promoted Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir to the prestigious rank of Field Marshal, marking a historic advancement in his military career.
The promotion was announced through an official notification issued by the Defence Division under Rule 199-A of the Pakistan Army Regulations, 1998. The notification, numbered 4/18/D-2(A-II)/2022, was signed by Muhammad Naeem Munsif, Deputy Secretary to the Government of Pakistan.
This move was made in exercise of the powers granted under the cited regulation and highlights the government’s confidence in General Munir’s leadership.
The notification has been circulated among key government and military institutions, including the President’s Secretariat, Prime Minister’s Office, Cabinet Division, and major military headquarters such as JSHQ, GHQ, NHQ, and AHQ.
This promotion reflects a significant milestone in Pakistan’s military hierarchy and underscores General Munir’s prominent role in national defence.
