Weather Alert Rain and Strong Winds Forecasted in Parts of KP and Punjab

PMD Forecasts Rain and Strong Winds in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, Warns of Heatwave in Sindh and Balochistan

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Monday issued a weather forecast predicting rain accompanied by strong winds in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Punjab, while warning of persistent hot and dry conditions across Sindh and Balochistan.

Rain and Gusty Winds Expected in KP and Punjab

According to PMD, Islamabad and its surrounding areas will remain partly cloudy, with a chance of rain and gusty winds in some localities.

In KP, the forecast warns of scattered showers with strong winds in upper regions such as Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, and Battagram. Rain is also likely in Peshawar, Swabi, Mansehra, and Abbottabad. Other districts including Nowshera, Charsadda, Kurram, Waziristan, Bannu, Kohat, Karak, and Dera Ismail Khan may experience similar weather.

Meanwhile, in Punjab, northern areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, and Jhelum are expected to receive rain and strong winds. The Met Office also forecasts showers in Lahore, Sargodha, Khushab, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, and Narowal. Central districts including Faisalabad, Sheikhupura, Jhang, and Bhakkar could also see rain, providing some relief from the ongoing heatwave.

Heatwave to Persist in Sindh and Balochistan

In contrast, Sindh will continue to experience extremely hot and dry weather, especially in central and upper districts. Strong dusty winds are expected during afternoon hours in urban centers like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.

Similarly, Balochistan is forecast to remain hot and dry, with most districts facing high temperatures.

PMD Advisories

The PMD has urged the public to take precautionary measures in areas expecting strong winds and dust storms. Farmers and commuters are advised to stay alert due to rapidly changing weather conditions.
