Basit Ali Proposes Hosting Remaining PSL 10 Matches in Bangladesh Amid Uncertainty
Former Pakistan Test cricketer Basit Ali has suggested that the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 be shifted to Bangladesh, instead of traditional alternatives like Dubai. His proposal comes in light of ongoing regional tensions that have led to the indefinite suspension of the tournament.
“Bangladesh is a Brotherly Country” – Basit Ali
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Basit Ali advocated for Bangladesh as a host nation, highlighting its deep love for cricket and strong fan support:
“Instead of Dubai, PSL matches should be held in Bangladesh. People in Bangladesh love cricket, and stadiums are packed during games,” he wrote.
“Bangladesh is a brotherly country, and hosting the matches there could help revive public interest and bring back excitement to the league.”
PSL 10 on Hold Amid Tensions
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended PSL 10 indefinitely following increased regional instability, reportedly due to Indian aggression in the region. No official update has been provided on when or where the league will resume.
However, internal PCB sources have revealed:
- Foreign players have been advised to stay in Dubai.
- Local players have been told to remain mentally prepared for a restart.
- Players may be called to Islamabad soon for further instructions and deliberations.
Potential First for PSL
While the PSL has previously shifted games to the UAE due to security concerns, hosting matches in Bangladesh would be unprecedented. If approved, it would mark the first time the PSL is staged in South Asia outside Pakistan.
Basit’s suggestion aims to maintain momentum for the league and capitalize on the strong Pakistan-Bangladesh cricketing relationship and fan enthusiasm.
