Explosions Rock Rawalpindi and Lahore Amid Failed Indian Missile Strikes, Says ISPR
Multiple explosions were reported in Rawalpindi and Lahore on Friday night, raising alarm across major Pakistani cities.
In Rawalpindi, two loud blasts were heard, with one occurring near the Nur Khan Airbase in Chaklala. Police and rescue teams swiftly responded, cordoning off the area.
According to security sources, the explosions were linked to an attempted Indian missile strike on the Nur Khan Airbase, which was successfully intercepted.
In an emergency press briefing, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry confirmed that India launched air-to-ground missiles targeting three key air bases: Nur Khan Air Base (Rawalpindi), Mureed Base (Chakwal), and Shorkot Base.
“All Pakistan Air Force (PAF) assets are safe,” stated the DG ISPR. “Most of the missiles were intercepted by Pakistan’s air defense systems, and those that landed caused no damage. India should now wait for our calculated response.”
Lt Gen Chaudhry further alleged that India also fired missiles into Afghanistan, accusing New Delhi of escalating tensions and “pushing the entire region towards war.”
He condemned India’s actions as reckless and provocative, stating, “Pakistan is determined to thwart every act of aggression, and India’s failed attempts reflect its growing desperation.”
