Three Policemen Martyred in Mastung IED Attack, 16 Injured

A deadly IED blast targeted a Balochistan Constabulary vehicle on Dasht Road in Mastung on Tuesday, killing three policemen and injuring 16 others. The vehicle was returning from Kalat when it was hit, according to provincial spokesperson Shahid Rind.

Two of the injured are in critical condition. Emergency protocols were activated at major hospitals in Quetta, where the seriously wounded were shifted for treatment. Security forces cordoned off the site, and an investigation is ongoing. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident and expressed grief over the loss of lives. PM Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s resolve to eradicate terrorism, while Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti promised top medical care for the injured and support for the martyrs’ families.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions in Mastung, where BNP-Mengal’s chief continues a sit-in protest demanding the release of detained women. A suicide blast occurred near the protest site last month, though it caused no casualties.
