The Punjab government has started receiving applications for the third phase of the Livestock Card scheme. The initiative offers interest-free financing to eligible livestock farmers to help them purchase animal feed and other approved nutritional products.
The latest phase aims to support livestock owners by reducing the financial burden of raising animals. Through the Livestock Card, eligible farmers can receive an interest-free loan of up to Rs. 540,000 based on the number of approved animals they own.
According to the government, the financing can be used to buy animal feed, silage, mineral mixtures, and other approved nutritional products from registered dealers. The scheme is intended to improve livestock health while supporting farmers across Punjab.
Eligibility Criteria
The Livestock Card scheme is available to livestock farmers who are residents of Punjab. Applicants must own between five and 20 eligible male calves or buffalo calves to qualify for the program.
Farmers must also have a valid Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) and an active mobile number registered in their own name. In addition, all eligible animals must be registered and verified by the Livestock and Dairy Development Department before the application can be approved.
Officials have advised applicants to ensure that their personal information and animal records are complete before submitting their application. Verification of livestock is a mandatory step in the approval process.
Loan Details
The amount of financing depends on the number of eligible animals approved under the scheme. The maximum loan available under the program is Rs. 540,000.
The funds can only be used to purchase approved livestock feed and nutritional products from registered dealers. This measure is intended to ensure that the financing is used for livestock development and animal care.
One of the key features introduced in the third phase is the cash withdrawal facility. Eligible cardholders can now withdraw up to 25 percent of their approved loan amount in cash. This gives farmers additional flexibility to manage livestock-related expenses that may not be covered through direct purchases.
Application Process
Farmers can apply online through the official Punjab Livestock Card portal. The online system has been introduced to make the application process easier and more accessible for eligible farmers across the province.
Applicants who need assistance can also visit their nearest veterinary hospital or Livestock Department facilitation centre. Officials at these centres will help farmers register their animals and complete the application process.
Registration for the third phase of the scheme began on July 15, 2026. Eligible farmers are encouraged to apply as early as possible to avoid delays in processing their applications.
The Punjab government says the Livestock Card program is part of its broader efforts to strengthen the livestock sector and support rural communities.
