Despite assurances from gas supply companies, several cities experienced severe gas shortages during the first Sehri of Ramadan 2025, making it difficult for residents to prepare their pre-dawn meals.

Gas Crisis During Sehri

Gas distribution companies had promised an uninterrupted supply during Sehri and Iftar hours. However, on the first day of Ramadan, residents in multiple cities, including Karachi and Rawalpindi, reported complete gas outages.

In Karachi, areas such as Rifah Aam Society, Malir, Nazimabad, Gulbahar, and Ranchore Line were heavily affected. Likewise, Rawalpindi’s Sixth Road, Satellite Town, Dhoke Kashmirian, Dhoke Pracha, Service Road, Dhoke Kala Khan, Khurram Colony, and Sadiqabad also faced severe shortages.

Struggles for Sehri Preparation

With no gas available, many households were unable to cook Sehri, forcing residents to seek food from hotels and roadside eateries. In some areas, people had no choice but to start fasting without eating Sehri.

The gas shortage on the very first day of Ramadan has raised concerns about supply reliability for the rest of the holy month, as both Sui Northern Gas Company and Sui Southern Gas Company failed to fulfill their commitments of uninterrupted service.
