Government Announces Relief for 300-Unit Electricity Consumers and Agricultural Tubewells

The federal government announced on Wednesday a relief measure for agricultural tube wells and households that consume up to 300 units of electricity. Federal Minister for Energy (Power Division) Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari revealed that the monthly fuel adjustment charges for these low-usage consumers will be reduced.

According to a spokesperson from the Power Division, the reduced fuel adjustment benefit was discontinued for households using up to 300 units in June 2015, while for agricultural tube wells, the relief was withdrawn even earlier, in December 2010. The Power Division has formally requested the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to reinstate these adjustments.

By waiving the fuel adjustment charges for both agricultural tube wells and low-usage consumers, the government aims to lessen the financial strain on farmers and households, thereby reducing their monthly electricity bills.
