Muhajir Qaumi Movement Chairman Afaq Ahmed Arrested in Karachi
KARACHI – Muhajir Qaumi Movement Chairman Afaq Ahmed has been arrested in Karachi for allegedly making an inflammatory statement, police confirmed.
Reason for Arrest
Afaq Ahmed was taken into custody following his remarks during a press conference, where he highlighted the issue of 92 fatalities in truck and dumper accidents within 40 days. He supported the ban on heavy traffic entering the city, citing public safety concerns.

He also mentioned instances where angry citizens set vehicles on fire after traffic accidents, particularly in Landhi, where tensions had escalated due to a recent tragedy.
Call for Peaceful Protest
Despite his strong stance on the issue, Afaq Ahmed urged the public to protest peacefully and avoid violence. He also warned against exploitation of the situation by certain groups.
Recent Instructions
Prior to his arrest, Afaq Ahmed had instructed Muhajir youth to ensure that no heavy traffic enters Karachi from Tuesday onward.
Authorities have yet to release further details regarding his legal proceedings or possible charges.
