Google Messages to Introduce WhatsApp Video Call Integration
Google Messages is set to integrate with WhatsApp, as discovered through an APK teardown of its latest app update.
The new feature will allow users to initiate WhatsApp video calls directly from within the Google Messages app.

If both the sender and recipient have WhatsApp installed, a video call icon will appear in the top-right corner of the chat. Tapping it will immediately start a WhatsApp video call.
Currently, this integration is limited to one-on-one chats. In group conversations or when the recipient does not have WhatsApp, Google Messages will default to Google Meet for video calls.
The final implementation of this feature may change before its official rollout.
It is anticipated that users will be given the flexibility to choose between WhatsApp and Google Meet for video calls, depending on their preference or their contact’s app availability.
While there is no confirmed release date, the feature is actively in development and could launch in the coming weeks.
