Section 144, which bans public gatherings, was enforced in Punjab on Friday by the Punjab Home Department to ensure peace and security. The decision cited concerns over potential terror threats during public protests.
The arrests come as PTI declared February 8 a “Black Day” to protest alleged electoral rigging. PTI leader Alia Hamza urged members to hold peaceful demonstrations, asserting their constitutional right to protest despite the restrictions.
