In a significant diplomatic move, President Asif Ali Zardari met with China’s Premier Li Qiang in Beijing on Thursday to discuss the enduring “All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership” between the two nations. The meeting, held at the Great Hall of the People, further emphasized the leaders’ commitment to deepening bilateral relations.
Both leaders highlighted the longstanding historical friendship between Pakistan and China, a relationship that has grown stronger over generations. President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to enhancing ties, focusing particularly on regional connectivity and economic growth. He underscored the importance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which has played a critical role in boosting regional integration and economic development.

The discussions also extended to CPEC 2.0, exploring cooperation in key sectors like renewable energy, science and technology, infrastructure, and agriculture. Both sides acknowledged the critical role of China’s support in Pakistan’s development plans and pledged to continue strengthening collaboration across these areas.
During the visit, several MoUs were signed, including agreements aimed at boosting cement production in Pakistan and exploring joint renewable energy projects. The collaboration also extends to coal gasification and urea production, marking a significant step in furthering the countries’ economic and strategic interests.
